2nd Half for Him Ministries

"2nd Half for Him"  is the banner under which three related, but distinct ministries for adults 55 and older have emerged: 

Route 66

 Route 66 provides ministry opportunities for active retirees in the areas of service, education and recreation.

• "Afternoon in the Park" - July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Como Park Pavilion, St. Paul, MN with music by "TEN SEVEN." Cost is $10 per person.
• Retreat #1 - September 14-16 at Shalom House, Trout Lake Camp - Educational and Recreational. Cost is $145 per person. 
• Retreat #2 - October 4-6 at Shalom House, Trout Lake Camp - Service Retreat. No charge, but please register so we can plan accommodations. (An offering will be taken.)

Prime Timers

Prime Timers is designed to help churches provide regular programming on the local church level, and a few special events on the district level for seniors who live on their own, but have some limitations.  District level events now on the calendar include the following with details on the brochure available to print by clicking here.

Annual Pig Roast - Thursday, August 19th at Oak Haven Church in Ham Lake, MN - Special Guests: Jeremiah & Vanessa Gamble of "Theater for the Thirsty." Cost is $10.00 per person.

Special Prime Timers Retreats are held annually at Shalom House, Trout Lake Camps.  Click here to see a brochure for more details. These annual events feature, music, speakers, great food and fellowship, and are hosted each year by wonderful pastoral couples from our great churches.  They are being held as follows:

Heritage

Heritage is designed to help churches provide consistent and caring bridges to its older members who are no longer able to attend church on a regular basis because of health or physical constraints.  Often times these people are very lonely and sometimes even feel forgotten by their church. 

• "Bridges", is a simple strategy that involves willing people from the church in simple, but meaningful tasks like sending cards, making visits, providing rides, bringing occasional meals, and doing short term light house keeping for these shut ins. 
• "Parish Nursing", A few of our churches have begun this specialized care ministry, others have it on the "drawing board".  Soon the MIBC will be providing workshops and/or resource people to aid churches in this process.
